ABOUT HEDCON

Health, Environment & Development Consortium

HEDCON is a social advocacy and networking organization, registered as a non-governmental organization in Jaipur under the Rajasthan Societies Registration Act, 1958. Since 1998, it has been working in India to influence, sensitize, capacitate, and support grass root initiatives and organizations, with a vision of a just and equitable society. HEDCON and its members work on the basis of Gandhian ethics, which means working for the collective uprising of men, women and children, regardless of economic situation, caste or religion.

HEDCON believes that research based advocacy about the causes of current poverty problems is an essential part of achieving sustainable development and ensuring rights of the underprivileged and vulnerable. People need to be aware of their rights and responsibilities. Development organizations should be aware of the root causes of the prevailing problems, and share their knowledge with other stakeholders. HEDCON carries out projects with policy makers at both state and national level in order to influence policies. At the same time, it works to sensitize and build the capacities of vulnerable people and grass roots to enhance the effectiveness of development activities. Along with that, the information is being spread around to our vast network of NGOs and other stakeholders through newsletters, trainings, workshops and publications.
